Due to the Funds' administrators adopting a new banking platform, the Orbis Funds Subscriptions Accounts and Bank Currency Routing Information have changed. This change affects all Orbis Funds. We regret any resulting inconvenience to Members. The new account details and additional guidance on sending subscription monies are contained in new Orbis SWIFT Instructions which replace the former SWIFT/Telegraphic Transfer Authority. To access the new Orbis SWIFT Instructions, click here.

In addition, as a result of recent changes to European Union banking regulations, all future subscriptions payments to the Orbis SICAV Funds made in Euro or British Pounds and made by SWIFT transfer must include: (1) the International Bank Account Number (IBAN); and (2) the Bank Identifier Code (BIC), also known as the SWIFT address, of the Orbis Subscriptions Account. In order to receive redemption proceeds by SWIFT transfer in Euro or British Pounds to a bank account within the European Union, investors must include in their payment instructions (1) their IBAN; and (2) the BIC for their bank account. The Orbis SICAV Application Form and Orbis SICAV Redemption Form have been updated to include guidance on this new requirement. The new version of the Orbis SICAV Application Form also reflects changes required to comply with Luxembourg data protection laws and anti-money laundering rules. To access the new Orbis SICAV Application and Redemption Forms, click here.

Orbis is pleased to announce the launch of the Orbis Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund and yen versions of the Orbis Optimal and Leveraged Funds on 1 January 2006.

The Orbis Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund caters to investors who are seeking a portfolio that is fully invested in, and exposed to, Asian equities outside of Japan and who therefore accept exposure to trends and risks in those stockmarkets as well as the historically higher volatility inherent in them. Consistent with Orbis' investment approach, we are launching the Orbis Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund because our fundamental research leads us to conclude that carefully selected equities from this region offer sound long-term value at prevailing prices and are attractive when compared to other equities globally. Importantly however, in contrast to our launch of the Japan and Africa Equity Funds in 1998, we do not believe the short-term timing for the launch of this Fund is particularly opportune. Instead, we are excited about the long-term prospects for the Fund and believe it is better to accept not picking the bottom than to miss the rest of a long-term trend.

We are launching the yen versions of the Orbis Optimal and Leveraged Funds because we believe the yen is particularly attractive compared to other major currencies globally and without these Funds we, and possibly our clients, cannot position their investments in the Orbis Family of Funds accordingly. The Orbis Optimal (Yen) Fund will seek capital appreciation on a low risk global investment portfolio by investing substantially all of its assets in the Orbis Optimal (US$) Fund and hedging most or all of its currency exposure into Japanese yen. Similarly, the Orbis Leveraged (Yen) Fund will seek capital appreciation on a leveraged global investment portfolio by investing substantially all of its assets in the Orbis Leveraged (US$) Fund and hedging most or all of its currency exposure into Japanese yen.

The Funds are offered by prospectus only, copies of which may be obtained by clicking here. Investors interested in participating in the Orbis Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund at its launch must complete an application form and submit payment to the Fund’s Registrar or sub-paying agent no later than noon (Bermuda time) on 29 December 2005. The first day on which investors will be able to invest in the yen versions of the Orbis Optimal and Leveraged Funds is Thursday, 5 January 2006. We note that the ability to invest in the Orbis Asia ex-Japan Equity Fund on the 1 January launch is limited, and investors can invest on any subsequent dealing day, which will be every Thursday. In the event of an over-subscription on the launch date, every investor who submits a correctly completed application and payment by the cut-off time will be able to participate for at least the minimum $50,000 subscription amount and excess subscription monies will be returned to investors. Please contact us at servicedesk@orbisfunds.com if you wish to obtain more information.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Euro Class of the Japan Equity Fund of the Orbis SICAV. This Class seeks higher returns in euro than the Japanese stockmarket hedged into euro, without greater risk of loss. This Class invests in the same Japanese equities as the Orbis Japan Equity (Yen) Fund and hedges the resulting Japanese yen exposure into euro, with the result that the Class' returns are managed in euro. The Euro Class is designed for investors who measure their returns in euro and who wish to be invested in Japanese equities without being exposed to fluctuations in the yen-euro exchange rate. Please contact us at info@orbisfunds.com if you wish to obtain more information.
